Our members are an important part of the process. The Neponset River Watershed Association is a grassroots, member-supported conservation group working since 1967 to clean up and protect the Neponset River, its tributaries and surrounding watershed lands.
With help from members, the Neponset River has made great progress since its days as a severely polluted industrial river. Membership helps to help fund water quality monitoring, school programs, river cleanups, research and advocacy. It also allows us to work with local towns, state and federal agencies to help prevent pollution and increase conservation.
Today, most of the streams in the Neponset meet swimmable standards during dry weather, and much of the river has been opened up for canoeing, bike paths and waterfront parks.
We're all connected by our waterways and affected by what happens in our neighboring cities and towns. Membership helps to ensure that we do our part to sustain healthy waters.
